University life is going to be a difficult but most fun experience of your life. You will one day look back to these days and sigh thinking it won’t ever return. There might be a few inconveniences in hostel life in the beginning days; however, it won’t be an issue if you are prepared for it. Just make sure you take the following things with you to the hostel to avoid any inconveniences.

A Trimmer
You will need to shave or trim and there won’t be a barber always available. Many students stop taking care of themselves in the hostel but you shouldn’t do the same if you want to make an impression. Whether it is to impress a teacher, girl, or employer, you should look sharp and attentive. For that, you are going to need one of the Andis hair clippers. Having a trimmer ensures that you groom every few days and keep trying different looks.
Skills to Cook
Learn some basic cooking skills before you leave for the hostel. Living independently, good food will be your biggest issue unless you have a good mess offered by your university. If you can cook for yourself, you will save a lot of money and time. Besides, cooking is also a good meditation practice. You will see that other hostel mates will start to like and might even pay you for food. Going out, deciding for food, and then spending your money on it is going to hurt.
Good Quality Blanket
You can never be sure about the weather and your physical condition when in the hostel. We have many spare things at home, but that is not the case in hostels. One thing that really makes you uncomfortable is when it’s cold and your sheets or blankets are not enough. It’s unlikely that you will find a spare blanket anywhere in the hostel. Make sure you buy a good quality blanket that is fit for the most extreme weather even when you are sick.
Things You Can Share
Almost everything is shared in hostel life. Your roommates, even hall mates, are going to use your every belonging. One thing they might spare is your undergarments. This is why you should not take anything to the hostel that you don’t want to share. Only bring things that you don’t mind sharing with others. Some rules will be developed in the first year. For example, you will buy a few things that everyone will use and others will buy something that you can share.
A Smart Bag
There is usually not a lot of space in hostel rooms. It can be difficult to manage all your belongings in one little room that might not even have proper cupboards. Things get misplaced when you don’t keep them in a proper place. Since you can’t build new cupboards, you should buy some smart bags with multiple compartments to sort and store your items. Make sure you write everything you will need in the hostel but try to keep them to a minimum.
