How To Stay Positive During The Menopause

Are you struggling with menopause? Common symptoms include low mood, anxiety, hot flashes, and night sweats. The average age to go through menopause is 51, and many women find that it’s a difficult time in their lives. If you feel like you’re struggling and need help, talk to your doctor who may prescribe anti-depressants or hormone replacement therapy. Suncoast Women’s Care is located in Trinity, Florida, and provides all aspects of women’s care by women, including contraception advice, well women examinations, pregnancy care, gynecologist, and menopause care.

They are also able to provide a laser treatment called MonaLisa Touch, which helps treat vaginal problems associated with menopause, such as dryness or itching.

Jar of Inspiration

Take an old jam jar and use this as your ‘jar of inspiration’. Every time something good happens in your life, write it down on a piece of paper and put it inside the jar. It doesn’t have to be anything big- write down small things that have made you smile, people who have been kind to you, or inspired you.

You may like to decorate the jar or paint it with glass paints. When you are feeling down or like you need a boost, you can pick out a piece of paper and read the happy thought or message. Alternatively, you can leave them all till the end of the year and then read them all at once.

Wear Bright Colors

Colors affect overall happiness levels and wellbeing. Choose to wear bright colors that make you happy and lift you up, especially on a grey day. Have you noticed that most winter coats are made in grey or black material? I have decided to buy bright coats in green or purple, as this helps to lift my mood during the winter months.

Wear your brightest clothes today. If you work in an office and are required to wear black or dress smartly, can you add a hint of color to your outfit?

Start a Support Group

If you’re struggling with symptoms of menopause, including low mood, you’re likely to know others who are as well. It takes both time and energy to create and maintain great lasting friendships. You could consider getting a group of friends together to support each other during menopause. Be there for your friends during the good and bad times, and they will do the same for you.

You could also look online for a support group or join a local meetup group that is already running in your local area. Alternatively, get in touch with old friends on social media and consider meeting up with them again and re-establishing the friendship to support each other through menopause. Creating a virtual social network has many benefits, however, you shouldn’t rely solely on it. Make sure that you go out and continue to have social contact. Don’t hide away during this difficult time. Join an exercise class and move your body; this will help with symptoms of low mood.
